When my Dad retired he and I started a small woodworking business; I was in my late 20's. We made custom orders and Dad was constantly coming up with new designs to make and he and I would make up a few prototypes. Once we found a design we liked we would make them for sale. Typically we would make up stock unfinished until sold so we could match the type of finish the customer wanted. It was a small business, but I learned a lot and it kept Dad from getting bored.
