Child's Nursing Cradle
I've made several of these, mostly prior to my conversion to Galootish ways. But I thought this is such a nice design for little girls that it was worth showing you. This nursing cradle was intended to allow a little girl rock her doll in the section next to her. I found this design concept in an old turn of the century furniture book, then adapted it to a child's size.

The bottom half of the cradle is
laminated oak on a plywood core for strength, as you may have figured out, I have this thing for making my projects very strong to stand the test of time.
The top half is recycled Oak lumber from a 100 year old church, it was a kneeling boards removed during a renovation project.

If you plan to make one of these be careful to properly engineer the
weight balance ratio, you wouldn't want anyone to be able to tip it over, even if they stood up in it.
The tapered sides of the cradle end, and the arm rest are dove-tailed with a Normite type router dove-tail template, But as anyone familiar with these things knows the units are typically

really fancy blanket (not shown). Well that's the short story.
Hope I've showed you something that interests you ...

not designed for working with tapers, so I only really used the finger
template part and made a fixture to hold the wood in place while cutting the 15°
angled sides (a little bit tricky but a good challenge, that is if you like
challenges... )
