Quality Consulting

All too often businesses start down the road of ISO/TS registration by attempting to build an internal system to meet the ISO/TS requirements. What is usually forgotten is that they already have a system in place, a system comprised of many individual processes. These processes, whether they are strictly or loosely documented exist and trying to institute change will cause trouble in the organization, not to mention additional cost. Costs for choosing this methodology may include:

  • creating new forms to prove out a process step,
  • instituting too much change into the business,
  • requiring additional signatures that add time, or
  • documenting processes which employees will not follow.

There are better and less expensive ways to acquire the ISO/TS registrations. The proper way is to incorporate the members of the business into the development plan and keep the current state of the business in tact as much as possible. I say as much as possible because many processes are simultaneously performed in different ways. For example, consider an engineering and build firm which utilizes Project Managers who each run their individual project differently. This may or may not be a problem, however, the results of their endeavors could result in:

  • dissimilar product,
  • wasted time by others working on their projects by trying to figure out which way to do their jobs, and/or
  • uncertainty of suppliers of the needs of the organization.

We like to refer to our method as building a Business Management System, which is aligned with the requirements of ISO/TS. One which is built on continuous improvement with as little as possible initial change to the current organization as possible.

If your organization/business has made the decision to attain an ISO/TS registration we can help you build a cost effective and efficient system.
